Machine quilting is priced depending on the type of quilting you would like.
All prices include GST.
Edge to Edge Quilting (E2E) - A continuous line design worked from one edge of the quilt to the other and repeated from top to bottom of the quilt. The cost for this style of quilting starts from $4.80 to $5.90 per square foot.
$55 additional charge if a different pattern is to be quilted on the borders as to centre of the quilt.
Custom - This is where one or more different styles of quilting are used to complete the quilt. Examples are echoing, stitch in the ditch, background fills & motifs. This style of quilting needs longer to quilt and is charged at an hourly rate of $38.00 per hour. Cost varies from $9.85 per square foot. Computerised only.
Minimum Charge per quilt - $65 for E2E & $130 for Custom
Preparing A Quilt for Longarm Quilting
- Backing & Wadding must be a minimum of 4” larger on all four sides than the quilt top.
- Clip threads. You don’t want dark threads showing behind a white sashing or quilt block.
- If the quilt top or backing is directional, please indicate top & bottom with a pinned note.
- DO NOT pin or baste the layers; the top, backing & batting should all be separate.
You can choose the density you want the quilting to be. Some designs can be opened up bigger to make them less dense.
Light Density - the quilting spreads out further, very soft. E2E Quilting $4.80 per square foot
Medium Density - quilting closer together pattern smaller. E2E Quilting $5.35 per square foot
Heavy Density - quilting very close together, tighter E2E Quilting $5.90 per square foot
Calculating Quilting Cost
Thread - We use high quality thread designed for use with Long Arm Machines. These include Superior, Rasant & Glide. The same colour is used on the top and bottom.
Quilting Patterns - We have a good collection of patterns for you to choose from. If you don’t see what you want we are happy to download new quilting patterns to add to our collection.
